Default Temp Gauge Quit After Installing New Harness

I just replaced the dash harness in my 73 after a slight meltdown. When I first powered up the gauges after install the temp gauge pegged to the extreme range and them returned to zero.
On my first shakedown drive after everything was put back together I realized the gauge isn't registering anything.
Any ideas if I burned out the gauge or what?
I am certain the gauge is plugged in correctly. What should I check?
Any help is appreciated.

Belkerx3...

Tell me.. with the key in the on position where is the needle?
Pegged to the right, or zero..

If zero you are missing ohms input.. I would check to make sure the ohms wire is plugged in to the sending unit.

If the gauge is pegged to the right.. where is it? At the rivet or below it.
