Mechanical Fuel Pump Q&A
It's me again. I've purchased a fuel pump, mechanical type, and have it home, planning my weekend.
I can see the presence of a spring, and I assume that this is actuated by a impact of the push rod on the arm.
My question is that the arm does not seem to move for me in any way at all. Is that normal or is there a problem with this fuel pump? I don't want to install it if this is irregular and take the chance of bending the push rod, or worse.
Please accept my apology for the newbie question.
Thanks, in advance, for your constant guidance and understanding....
Kirk
I see that you are fairly new to the forum. Welcome, nice looking Vette.
Your profile states that your cars only mods are paint. If your motor is original and "properly" maintained, your mechanical fuel pump is probably a Corvette specific pump that incorporates a fuel return line connection. Even your current if it is not OEM style, just make sure that your replacement pump is compatible with your current fuel system setup, or you will be back with a lot more questions.
If your current pump was not OEM style, then Bubba has probably been there. It is hard to anticipate what Bubba may have done, and at times it is easier to stick with Bubba's changes rather than to return to original.
Good Luck,

Kirk put the lever against a workbench or something solid, you should be able to push lever ,if not then return it .
