AIR holes in manifold
Air Injection Reaction was an air pump that pumped fresh air into the exhaust manifolds to supply oxygen to help the unburnt exhaust gases complete combustion and reduce emissions.

The holes referred to are the connecting points of the air rail assembly that threaded into small ports on the exhaust manifolds to deliver the air as mentioned in teh previous post.

Please explain A.I.R.
Thanks for the info guys. So now my question is; My '71 454 had the engine replaced w/a SB years before I bought it. I want to drop another 454 in there, how do I find out if it originally came with A.I.R.?
