Your 186 heads aren't bad heads, a lot of people are still putting those on their cars. A little porting and they flow pretty good for old heads. They already have the big valves.
About the cheapest aluminum heads you are going to find new are going to cost you at $1000.00. Edelbrock heads are good, but there are plenty other heads out there that are just are good or better.
If your car still has the domed 11 to 1 pistons, you'll probably want to go with aluminum heads and certainly no smaller than 64 cc heads.
Good luck on whatever you decide.
