I bought a Replacement alunium radiator for my 1981 fit was ok but lower hose connection interfered with sway bar anyone else had thi problem.looks like I will have to build about a 3/4 inch spacer for sway bar mounts? ron
What brand and part number of Radiator did you use, also what were your cooling issues and were they solved with the new rad. I am running a 340 Hp 350 SBC with gm waterpump, 180 stat and factory 3 core rad. I had the rad shop remove the tanks and rod the cores to open them up. GM allways made a decent 3 core rad, i see the only real problem with the vette is the fact the rad is layed back on an angle reducing real airflow through it. I have not run the car yet but was hoping to be free and clear of cooling issues.
Ron,
I had the same exact problem with my 81. I just used enough spacers to clear the snout. I did this on both sides of the sway bar to keep things even. I did this 4 years ago and have had no problems at all.
Sounds like my $170 radiator, 3/8 spacers worked on my 80. I also had to trim the drain, (plastic and was on the drivers side) I wish I would have sent it back and got a Dewitts Quality piece. Mine was a copper/ brass unit that has not cooled as good as my original.
