MSD wire resistance
I'm chasing an intermittent miss after warm-up, mainly at idle. Seems to smooth out as speed increases, maybe not. Heres my set up: Fresh 350, 30 over with flat tops, vortec heads, 268H comp cam. Q-Jet by Lars, new GM HEI adjusted per Lars papers with an 1838 vac can. Tweaked timing per Lars papers also. Motor runs strong. Can lay a nice 10 foot scratch in second (THM350 with 308s 255/70/15 rubber). This set-up is in my sons 72 C10 short bed.
All comments welcome.
20+ years ago, I went to the Reno Air Races in my 72 LT-1 Vette, while staying up in Tahoe/Reno area, my Vette had a constant low RPM miss, I tried new plugs, isolated it to #5 cylinder, bought a new plug wire, swapped that out and never did get rid of the miss. The car was pretty "doggy" but, I attributed it to the high altitiude. On the drive back to the SF Bay Area where I live, the power came back and the miss went away. 1 year later doing a teardown of my 96K mile LT-1, I discovered the #5 exhaust valve had a failing valve seat (the rest didn't look very good either), but, they never caused problems at sea level. Next trip to Reno, the Vette ran like a top the whole week.
