Default Leather-like seat covers

Anyone ever had any experience with the leather-like seat covers? How durable are they and how do they look in comparison to the stock leather/vinyl? I'm just wondering wondering if it's worth it to save some cash when I buy seat covers.

i have had mine for 10 years .they hold up good .i like the smell of leather, but i dont like the cracking or the cost. i would replace the foam .the seats do go bad after a lot of use and time.

I used "leather like" and have been happy with the results. I tried intalling the new covers without new foam. Not a good idea. Had to take one cover off and order new foam. A good hair drier is helpful to warm the material for stretching. Another idea is to use large wire ties to pull the seat cover wires into the foam when installing the hog rings. Place three wire ties around the wire in the foam and around the wire in the covers. Warm the material and pull the wire ties alternately until you have the seat cover inplace. The wire ties will hold the wires together while you install the hog rings. Good Luck.

I redid mine maybe 6 years ago with the leather like vinyl in pattern....

and they are fine with the OEM foam and a little added over top for affect....reason for the old foam is seating height as I"m tall in the backbone, it's not the only trick I have done for that reason, either...

the use of garbage bags laid between the foam and the seat cover allows the cover to slide over the foam and fit perfectly...a trick I picked up from a pro trim guy up north years ago....the use of large tie wraps in place of the hog rings is my idea, and are the only thing holding my seats together for some 15 years now....two sets of seat covers worth....

hog rings/pliars/fighting all that crap is just plain not necessary...period, on any seat....

I like the leather like covers.. they are a cheaper replacement for the leather covers.

The neat thing is that all factory installed leather covers had vinyl sides from 1970-1982. The leather like covers are just made from the same material used on the sides.

We have the leather like covers in the forum special price section too! If you apply the current discount code DRWH3A you'll save even more money.

You'll find details about the discount code here. http://forums.corvetteforum.com/c3-g...ring-sale.html

I bought these (and foams) two years ago from Willcox. Fit and look is very nice. Durability I cannot comment on as I only put on about 800 miles per year.

I used leatherette seat covers in my 68 L36 Roadster. The fit well and were cheap enough. They are fine, no problems. Having said that, if I ever do it again I will use the original basket weave.

I am super happy with mine. I bought them with the foam and snapped them into the clam shells (1981) in about 30 minutes
