Default C3 tire sizes

15" only please, I want to run the 15x8's on the car now (factory rallies) I have new 255-60-15's for the front. But want a bit more tire hight and width on the back. What are you guys running?

275/60/15 is the next step, not sure if it fits?

gumpy is right, 275 normally fit without any changes. once you go to 295 say hello to ebrake changes, offset trailing arms and wheel spacers... not all of them but at least 1 of the 3.
275,s fit nice on an 8" rim but 295,s will balloon quite a bit .

I've got YOKOHAMA 295/50/15 rear and 245/60/15 front. A 1/2" wheel spacer is necessary to clear the brake calipers.

Are you also interested in grip? If you want the rake and grip then put the 255/60-15's on the rear and get some 225/50-15's like the BFGoodrich g-Force Sport or Yokohama AVS ES100.

But, in my opinion there are no decent 255/60-15 tires available unless you go to a Racing DOT like Mickey Thompson. Just my quick searches at TireRack.com indicates that the best performance all-weather 15" tire is the Yokohama AVS ES100...I recommend this tire on all 4 corners for the best balance unless you have a big block and need the extra grip up front.

I agree with Rockn-Roll. If you are only interested in looks, then I would step up to the bigger sizes in the 15 inch rim but you will not get better performance necessarily with the tires available in the 15 inch rim in terms of handling but may actually adversely effect the handling with more sidewall in an S/T rated tire ( much more flex). I had the OEM aluminum rims on my car for 25 years running 225/60/15 Dunlop GT Qualifers, 255/60/15 Goodyear Eagle GT's, and BF Goodrich Radial T/A's 255/60/15's and just got tired of the mediocre handling. My car has just about every handling enhancement that one can make to the stock designed suspension front and rear and I finally went with SLP 17 inch rims that are a direct replacement for the 15 inch OEM rims (they fit perfectly with no modifications). I run Kuhmo 255/45/17 ZR's in front with 255/50/17 ZR's in the rear (I have 3.70 gears with the 4 speed and did not want a shorter tire out back). The difference in ride (better believe it or not), handling, and steering response is so much better than the 15 inch tires that I would never go back to 15's unless someone made a Z/V tire in the 255/60/15 size and then only maybe. Hope that helps!

I came to Vettes from a drag racing/street rod/custom/triFive/muscle car backround and little to no street, road or slalom racing at all. Mostly straight line and street cruising stuff. I did put my Greg Welds on (front piecutters and 255/60/15's on 8" rims out back) and the car looked ridiculous that way. I like a car w a slight tire rake and the wheel wells filled. Also w a BBC up front, running a course at speed handling w a stock suspension would be a a chore at the very least even with a good sway bar /shock setup. So I guess looks and straight line accel. is my area of interest. I did order a good set of Poly Ure. sway bar and rear spring link bolt sets to improve the cars lean in turns and will almost certainly got a large F+R sway bar eventually , I also bought a set of Bilistien shocks for all four corners from a buddy who thought they were to harsh for his cross country trips w his wife.

Do you have any pictures of the wheels? or a part number, where did you get them from?

They will fit with 15 X 8 stock ralleys, with no modifications.

avon cr6zz 15" are V rated. stiff sidewall, race compound but DOT. they are available also in 275/55/15 (not 275/60/15 which are too tall)
I use CR6ZZ 245/60/15 all around
i had BFG 245/60/15 and they had balloon sides while the Avon have straight sides (infact Avons looks smaller than BFG even if same size, but tread is the same or more). So these Avons are a totally different tire even if 15", I think they worth a try ( but they are very expensive)

Until/unless I step up to 18's, I may likely end up on Avons. FWIW, I've seen 245 and 255 15's from the same manufacturer with the same tread widths despite the difference in section widths.

Nothing against wide meats, but I never much cared for the ballon look when they're installed on too narrow a rim, especially on a Corvette (sorry to those who find that appealing). jb78L-82 is right on target about that being detrimental to handling.

did you have to move the emergency brake mount to fit those tires? I have 245/60/15 on the rear of my 73 and Im about a quarter inch from hitting the mount bracket. Love to put what you have on mine but not sure if they will hit on the back side or not.

I was looking at tire sizes and notice you said those tires fit without any mods. so you didn't have to move the brake bracket that's on the inside of the trailing arm? I have 245/60/15 now and Im about a quarter inch from rubbing. I wanted to put what you have on mine as I have a 73 also but it seems you would have to move that bracket if I get those. Thanks for any info you can provide.

If youre open to it and dont have a soft suspension 255s in the rear and 235/60 front give a nice look to it without the drastic difference in sidewall height. Both fit an 8 rim Ok, can use 7s for the 235s if you want also.
x2 on 295s rolling the sidewall a lot Id think that would create excess heat in them?

So did you have to move the bracket?
