should the brake pads on a 81 make clicking noises when the car moves? I notice front pads have a flat plate (spring?) on the back of the pads. The rear pads do not.
What you may be hearing is your limited slip differential. Sometimes if the wrong gear oil is put in without additive the clutches in the diff. will grab. You can buy limited slip additive to put in if this is the case.
Just changed the oil, made sure to put additive myself

jack up the car .grab the wheel at 3and9.check for play now grab the wheel at 6 an 12 and check for play .if there is verry much play its a good bet its a bearing.
Could be any one of those things. The pads shouldn't make noise while moving, but may "click" at the beginning of braking as they rock forward or back on the pin and make contact with the caliper casting. Sounds like you have shims in the front calipers.
