Too much timing on my hands...
I had a problem with the car stumbling at 5000 RPM. Lars noted that normally he finds this to be a timing issue. Well I found my problem.
My advance weights have cut a groove into the cam at the top of the shaft. Letting the mechanical advance go 30+ degrees, according to the specs it should only give 24.
I have ordered a new set of weights and I am going to see if a freind can weld a touch of metal back onto the cam and I will grind it back into place. If this doesn't work I have to buy a new shaft or cam.
But if it comes to that I will probably send Lars the dist and let him put the cool tune to it.

I had exactly the same thing in my dist. It was allowing a total of 50 degrees timing. I had the shop put a little weld in there and grind it. They put it on a distributor machine and set it up for 12 initail and 36 total. Made a huge difference in the way it drives.
