Tachometer and volt guage needle bouncing up and down
Hey guys,
just got my car back from the shop today. Just took it for a drive and notice that the tachometer and the volt meter needles are bouncing up and down really fast. When I was stopped at the light I noticed my exhaust note changed twice and then notice the check engine light is on. The gauge lights dimmed until I got on the gas again. Seems like the shop messed something up. I'm guessing something with the alternator, somethings draining the electricity. Anyone think they might know the problem? TIA
Brake lines and the horn was fixed. Maybe they messed something up when they fixed the horn.
The horn should not be very invasive but it depends on their ability to diagnose, no real reason to get into the dash clusters.
On that 81 initially I would be looking for grounds they left loose or disturbed.
On the 81 it has some really odd wiring in that a fuse blown can cause weird things to happen to other items on other circuits. One example is the choke circuit .
Check all your fuses using a 12 v test light , it could be as simple as a blown fuse from the shop poking around.
