If you look at the picture below, the windshield upper molding as Alan stated is held in place with clips. There is usually 5 across the top, but the amount can and will vary.
The clips hold the upper molding down by clipping on upper lip. To release the clip insert the tool under the molding in the angle shown and drag it under the molding until you feel a clip.
Once you feel it catch a clip pull the handle downward and it should release the clip. Them move to the next clip and repeat! On your car this is the only molding held on by clips. The windshield pillar moldings (Vertical Moldings) on 68-82 are held in place by screws.

If you are just taking the side molding off the car, you can do this pretty easy.
Just remove the screws that retain the weatherstrip retainer and molding, I believe there are four and there are two pieces of stainless trim. One is the molding retainer, one is the front windshield pillar trim.
Since the side trim actually sits over the upper trim molding, you won't need to remove it.
Once the screws are removed you'll find the two pieces of molding are stuck together with a black tape like substance and you can remove both of these at the same time leaving the pillar weatherstrip installed.
If the molding is stuck to the pillar with glue. Gently pry this off without bending the molding. One key to making a perfect installation is to make sure that the moldings are flat! One problem that happens when people remove these moldings is they don't get all the screws out and then they pry! When this happens, it will pull and bend the molding where the screw is still in place. When installation is done with a molding that is not flat, it will rock after installation is finished. This can and often will cause a sealing problem in the front pillar weatherstrip.
