My car is being totally painted at the moment, so although I have been given some tips on things to try, I have been without car for some weeks and probably will be for some time to come before I can start to work on the brake issue again.
One of the members here has suggested I change to a Hydroboost and he has told me that it is a great thing. Are they all that they are cracked up to be? Could it fix my issues with my brakes? What components would I need to buy? Where does one buy them from? And will Batman and Robin escape the clutches of the evil... ...I digress
You already know my thinking on this subject, and my one to one demonstrated proof to ME on my car, and I can assure you all I WAS a skeptic on this issue....then Sharkey stood on his nose and mine felt the wheel...I was sold....
Hyroboost is a good system But it won't cure any problem with the basic brake system
The hydroboost is great but if there are other issues it will not fix them. Fix the brake issue first then put in a hydroboost. You will have more brakes than you need for street driving.

A few say the OEM brakes are fine and they can lock them up and blah blah blah
Until you actually try the hydroboost I would probably say the same thing but when I installed it, I loved it. It is just the feeling the car is going to stop on a dime and give you 9c change
One of the best not necessary modifications I have done in a long line of them

How hard was it to get those bolts off of the booster?

It's hard to say but I think everyone who has done it mentions "it's a good idea to remove the driver's seat first." My second suggestion is to get some old pillows to make yourself comfortable -- you're going to be in an uncomfortable position for a while.

its not that hard, i just got through installing one tonight.... seat stayed in, need a ratchet with a u-joint at the socket end, its the clip on the pin that holds the cleaves in that is the hardest part to get back together...

... 2 words.... modern brakes! something like that K-Swiss advertisement... "there are 2 types of people, those who own HydroBoost, and those who have never tried it...."
mine is still bleeding out the air in the hydro lines from the PS pump... now that is some very strange and odd feedback at the peddle... but it is starting to go away, and i can see the sunshine.... will never go back.. p

OH hell yeh.....I had a oversize bore m/cyl in my car, trying to get some pedal outta that system, it was better, but never GOOD, so I did my famous to me 'swap' directly A-B without touching ANY of the brake hydraulics.....even with the air in the p/steering/boost lines, sharkey stood on his nose....but don't forget that oversized m/cyl.....so I put in a aftermarket stock size m/cyl and it's been GREAT ever since....
I did loose a front brake hose, kept the caliper applied, fixed the whole thing at once, hoses, rotors, new O rings, never an issue yet...been ~4 years now as a DD.....
Nevermind what other people will say on how good a stock C3 brakes are, a hydroboost is something else, I got one in mine, and I swear to god, if I buy a another C3 I would put one in it before even driving it.

can you imagine a 130 lbs 5.5' chick trying to handle a manual steering/brakes 8000 lbs truck?? she maybe be tough, but not wonder woman....
