What temp on the road????
Ive been running what I deam pretty hot on the road. Temp seems to increase with rpms and not speed. Im running 220 at 70mph and 3000rpm. 210 at 60 and 2500. Is this normal?? with a realativly stock engine? Ive flushed my radiator and helped a bit but im conserned about the temps. Of course these readings are coming from an aftermarket guage hooked up at the intake manifold next to the water hose to the radiator. What are you guys running???
Thanks
Nicholas

Mine is usually about 195-205.
Is the front spoiler on your car? It does make a difference.
Do you have the fan shroud?
Are the foam seals still on the radiator?
Came back to add: How's the fan clutch?

I have the spoiler , foam and fan shroud on it....but my thermal clutch is out...Shouldnt make a differance at highway speeds though. What else could make it run that hot?

For less than $100 you should be able to decrease your temperature by at least 20 degrees!
Get some auxiliary electrical 16" fan (you get those relatively cheap) and add some 1 or 2 bottles REDLINE WATTER WETTER to your Radiator. You can get WATER WETTER for approx. $7 at DISCOUNT AUTO PARTS!!!

I use a TUFF STUFF chrome water pump with 30% more flow! I only paid $95 at some Streed Rod site. I will try to find the link to their site!

Are you loosing water? Does the engine seem to continue to run OK? Is this the max temp with the AC on if you have AC? How hot does it get setting at a stop light? I'd say (and it's because my car runs in the 220 to 230 area in Phoenix with AC at slow speeds) if 220 is the max under all these conditions you don't have much to worry about. If you want cooler, all the standard changes are available. Larger radiator, better shrouding, lower temp thermostat, water wetter, cleaning the block both inside and outside, cleaning the radiator, good to better water pump (questionable in my opinion), engine timing, check the fan clutch, etc. You're choice.

Re: What temp on the road???? (WATTAC)
Make sure you have the High Flow stat, I solved same problem on my 454 by: install spoiler, install the seals around the rad, install the high flow 180F stat, flushed rad, add no more then 50 mix of antifreez with distilled water. If that doesn't fix the pull rad and have a rad shop hot tank your rad. But before you do any of this make sure your temp gauge is working properly. I installed an after market temp gauge under the hood just making sure my interior gauge is accurate.
