I am installing a new Sanden 508 compressor. Is it necessary to have a low pressure cut off switch installed as with the old compressors? I'm having trouble with the accumulator fitting with the switch attached.
You need a binary switch that prevents the compressor from turning on if pressure is too low, and cuts out if pressure gets too high.
The accumulator that I have has the switch attached, it will not fit with the switch attached. Is there any other way that a low pressure switch can be installed without it being attached to the accumulator?
The 78 accumulator had the switch on the accumulator, but rather on the liquid line tube from the condenser to the evaporator.
You should be able to replace the liquid line for one with a fitting for the binary switch.
In 78 they also used a thermostatic cycling switch. The accumulators with the fitting for a switch on them are usually meant for pressure cycling switches.
Maybe you have a variety of parts on there.
