Use a little bit of contact adhesive in 3 or 4 spots between the gasket and the head simply to hold the gasket in place. Use RTV on the end (China) walls. Lastly, use Permatex #2 on the intake manifold bolts to keep oil from wicking up the bolts.

I use Permatex "Ultra Grey"...

its real thick/tacky, doesn't squirt out everywhere or get real stringy.....It works great for building up the front and rear "gasket" on intake manifolds. I also paint a THIN layer around the ports and water cross overs on both sides of the gasket....Be careful to not let it get in the port when the intake is torqued down so there is no air/fuel restriction....No vacuum leaks, no oil sucking into the ports and no water leaks.

I also use it on the intake bolts to seal them so no oil crawls up and out of the bolts.

Use Gaskacinch, I think Edelbrock even owns this company. I use it to glue the gasket in place on the cylinder head then lay 2 beads of sealant on the end rails of the block, then torque the intake on (I don't ever use the end rail gaskets providied in the kits, they are just problems waiting to happen.)

Coat the cylinder head face, the side of the intake gasket that faces down and leave the topside of the gasket dry (side that touches the intake) let the Gaskacinch set-up set the gasket properly in place. For the block end rails I like to use "The Right Stuff" sealant, that is what is used in the machine shop I work out of and it is reliable.

That's what I use/do when I install intake gaskets.
