We need to get the moderators to move this post over to the C4 section. I am not sure about the C4 but most GM vehicles the fuel pump relay should not cause your problem. When you turn the ignition on the fuel pump relay energizes for a few seconds. Most GM vehicles the relay is also energized thru the oil pressure switch. Does your 86 have the optispark? on the F body's these are always failing.
