Default Radiator/shroud Seals.

I just got through installing radiator and shroud seals. Car hasn’t had them up to now. After a test drive the engine temp was about 10 degrees hotter. A/C off and driving easy at 55mph. I thought that the seals were designed to direct more air flow through the radiator making the engine run cooler. Has anyone had any experience with this problem?

That doesn't make sense. The seals helped me when I was dealing with cooling issues. If you have them all installed and sealing properly it makes me wonder if ambient temps were the same as before installing the seals. Other than that, as long as nothing is blocking the front of your radiator, I can't imagine how they would make temps worse.

The only difference is that I just reinstalled the A/C condenser. It has been removed for a very long time. It’s the small parallel flow type. I didn't think that it should affect the temp when the A/C is off.

Adding anything in front of the radiator can reduce the airflow some. I also can't think of any way the seals would make the cooling system work less effectively, but the condenser could create a mild restriction in airflow.

If it's not difficult, you might remove the condenser but leave the seals in place to double check which item is the root cause of your engine temperature increase.

On a sidenote- I hope you carry a fire extinguisher in your Vette because it looks like it's on fire in your avatar!

LOL, not a bad idea! Believe it or not, I did that burnout with the original 180hp L48 350. It's MUCH more fun now with the new engine!
