Could you keep us posted on the fan update? I have an extra Mk VIII fan in my garage and have been considering installing it too.

Glad you've gotten back on track with your 496. Might you post a complete link to the fan conversion?

Happy 4th

What did you buy for a block that was $2200.00 i would of gone to the auto wrecker and bought a complete 454? and used that. Tons of good 2 bolt main blocks out there, i studded mine and made 1006 HP with it never had a problem with it. Off the bottle it made 708 HP and 622 tq.

Yes i did.

The Block was a STD bore 454 2 bolt main block. We put main studs in it, bored .060 line bored the block and that was pretty much it. I bought an Eagle rotating assembly with internal balance and the better SRP pistons and a .250 longer rod, as well as the L-19 rod bolt. The heads were AFR 305 rec ports with a Dart intake and 1000 cfm pro-systems carb. The cam was a custom ground unit from Cam Motion. .691/.684 lift with .262/.270 @ .050 on a 112 LSA. Solid roller. I soon learned that i needed a bigger cam, and also that i should of went with the 4.25 stroke crank and built a 496.

We made 6 motor only dyno passes and 3 nitrous passes on the dyno. In a 3500 lb camaro which was set up to run nitrous and not motor only. we ran 11.20 @ 119 on the motor and a best of 9.65 @137 through a 2.5" exhaust mufflers and tailpipes.

I can email you the dyno sheet if you like? So dont call my 468 build BS just because i didnt spend $2200.00 on a block that wasnt needed.

i was under the impression you got a 700 hp motor out of the junk yard and all you had to do was add main studs.

Ok sorry my mistake, I was under the impression that your bought a Dart block? I also had a heafty bill from the machine shops as well. But balancing and blueprinting is worth the money to make sure it stays together.
