Default Bee Jay's Interior

My buddies have been teasing me about my interior. One said that my interior looked like a goat exlploded inside. I don't know what he meant. It wasn't that bad.

So I ordered a complete carpet set at the last Pomona Swap meet. I ordered it in the light camel and with two door storage compartments. The car was originally a darker camel and had a three door storage compartment, but I like light camel and the two door better. So I started my interior refurb. I had bought new seat foam and cushions a while back. I also covered the back half of the car with fatmat and felt a while back. So I covered the front of the car with fatmat and felt, installed the new carpet and seats. It came out really nice, but now I have to take a shower and wash my hands before driving. I now need door panels.

I made an aluminum plate floor mat for the driver's side.

Does anyone make a tan leather Momo style steering wheel like this?

Looks great man!!!

Hmmm, I never thought about doing the 2 door instead of 3. My compartments are rotted to hell...and need to be replaced. I too recently replaced all the carpet and seats with new. Looks so much better now. I think I'll do the 2 door as well...

To convert to two door, I bought the entire door assembly from J&D Corvettes. Comes with everything except the locks. It comes already painted the proper color too. About $200.

Is this the aluminum floor mat? Nice! Can you provide details on what you used and how you did it?

Will you be reusing the old locks? Are the holes already there or do you have to drill them yourself? I want as much plug 'n play as possible...

It was easy. I used my vinyl floor mats from my truck to make a template. I cut and trimmed till they fit. I used some diamond plate aluminum and cut it out to match the vinyl template. I bent the aluminum and using small bolts, bolted it to the floor. I used the passenger side vinyl templat and some left over carpet to make a floor mat.

Hi Neal. Wasn't on the top of my list either, but I'm weak when it comes to peer pressure. Done some really dumb things in my life because of that.

Yes, I will use two of the old locks. I have to cut the carpet and install them. This is the plug n play solution. If you buy it in pieces, you have to paint the black frames and buy hinge pins and cut carpet.

I heard that. I think I will put my sheepskin seat cover back on the driver's side. I'll start vacuuming the interior more often too. Maybe I'll ask people to remove their shoes......nah. The original carpet and seats lasted 32 years as a daily driver. This set should last as long. I'll be 85 then.

I'm fine with cutting the carpet, but would I also have to drill a hole into the wooden door? Or is the hole already there?

I can pull an intake manifold, both heads, replace gaskets, reassemble, adjust valves, set timing, and cruise in a day. This !@#$$%^% Carpet and seat foam job took me weeks. Putting down fatmat and felt added to the task. Painting the seat backs and frame and arm rest did too. But my way to loud exhaust is now tolerable so thumbs up on the fatmat and felt.

My only regret is that I didn't lay down some sort of insulation/noise barrier when I did mine...didn't have it and wanted to enjoy the vette as much as possible on R&R.
