I inspected my new Ultra Street Avenger 670 Holley carb and noted while looking through the float level sight glass there are two different floats used in this new carb. One is brass and the other is phenolic plastic.
Is this normal? Would this be cause for concern regarding any float adjustment or operation of the carb?
If the rear float is made with the black plastic/nitrofil it is fine, if the rear float is the white plastic I would concider replacing it.

Those things are dangerous. I had one of those hollow white plastic floats on the primary side of my 4150 develop a leak at the seam. The float sunk. When I tried to start the car, it wouldn't. I removed the air cleaner top, and tried to start it again. Gas shot out of the primary vent tube like a gusher. Very dangerous situation. I was lucky, no fire. I replaced them both with brass floats - an old guys preference.
