any paint stripper.......aircraft........ fast and toxic but safe........ citrus strip from homedepot, safer, slower, just as good ,water cleanup .

Thanks for the ideas. I think the stripper would have the advantage of not hurting the unpainted part of the stainless trim pieces whereas the blasting would remove the shiny finish. I guess you could mask it but the blasting would remove some of that.

Lacquer thinner in a shallow tray.
I did a gas door today in a coffee can. Left it for about 10 min. Used a brush a litle and put it back in clean thinner for a couple min. Then wiped it with a clean rag.

Side vents on 70-72 are some real TREATS to strip, there I used chemical stripper, I can still feel my hands buring through the gloves to this day
