Is there anyway to tell on a converter (size, width) what the stall is? I bought a T350 transmission from a guy who gave me the converter with the deal - it was just marked with an engraved "HS", no other markings - he didn't know either (everything was just being resold).
Not sure what I have and really don't want to install it to find it isn't a stall converter or it has too much stall. Thinkin I'm SOL on the TQ.
Without a part number or some distinctive features, I think you're mostly out of luck. I've noticed that most of the high stall converters that I've seen are the smaller diamerter ones. If the bolt holes for the flex plate are further out than the circle of the converter, I think it's a good bet that it's a higher stall one. Beyond that, you'll find out when you run it.
I also know of a company in Washington that builds custom stall converters all using the same case so you can't tell what it is from the outside.
