It has been a while since I had any issues with my yellow '68 but about 2 weeks ago, my brake went to the floor while driving. Checked the master cylinder and the rear resorvoir was empty.. Drove home and parked the car.. As I've been very busy lately, I only got to work on the brakes last night. First I bled the front brakes. When I tried to open the bleed valve on the left front caliper, the valve broke off.. Had to swap out the caliper. Luckily, I had the old calipers from my race car (went to Aerospace brakes) and installed the right from caliper from the racecar and then, when I started working on the left rear brake, I already noticed the the rear wheel and the trailing arm were wet with brake fluid.. The caliper was leaking as was the metal brake hose that goes to the rubber hose, monted at the trailing arm. The nut on the brake line was rotted so bad that I had to cut the brake line and use a pair of pliers to get it loose. Swapped out the rear caliper and the metal brake hose and put it back together. Made a little test drive and brakes are working like new again.. Tonight, I'll probably swap out the right side too.. I'm sure that it's in just as bad shape as the left one.. Finished at 10:30 PM last night, so I had no time to do the right side.. There is no leak, so it's not too urgent..
So far, the yellow '68 has been the most reliable Vette that I've ever had.. Drove it for about 35k miles in the last 5 years and other than a broken alternator bracket, I haven't had any issues with that car...
