Disconnected vacuum advance on dist.
My vette has been surging at idle in drive. about 200rpms fluctuation.
When I disconnected the vac advance it idles fine.
What is probably wrong? and do I need to reconnect or can I leave it disconnected?
The cars seems to be running fine without it.

Sounds like your engine's manifold vacuum is too low for the vacuum advance unit. It should be all in by 2" hg less than your vacuum reading at idle. I would not run a street car without vacuum advance, because you are limiting the power band by throwing away low-load torque.

Been there done that
There are lots of threads here about setting the correct timing, but the Surging turned out to be a faulty Vac Advance can for me.
Good Luck !
