How can I lower the rear of my 72 coupe?? Sits up high in the back and needs to come down a bit. Remeber something about the bolts in the end of the spring needing to be longer??? Help appreciated!!! Thanks.
P.S. I'm also cutting about 3/4 of a coil out of the front springs. Should I cut the top or the bottom of the spring??
Backing the nut off from the spring end bolts takes tension off the rear spring, and "may" lower the car. I say "may" because I haven't done this myself but have had discussions about this recently. The stock bolts tend to be too short to make this adjustment. You can purchase 8 inch bolts that have enough adjustment to effectively lower your rear end. Alignment might be an issue at that point.
Install grade 8 (nothing softer) bolts in the rear and lower until the half shafts are level with the ground. Do not go lower.
If you are running fat tires, the end of the spring or the bolt ends may rub the inside face/sidewall of the tire. This will only occur during hard cornering and will scuff the sidewall.I had to cut the unused ends off my spring bolts to avoid cutting my 255/60/15s.

Re: Lowering Rear End - Question (mdsmith)
I installed the lowering bolts from Ecklers, they lowered the rear about 1" but now it bounces harder than it should after a bump, maybe I did something wrong. But I don't think so it is pretty easy. I also added a fiberglass spring, poly bushings and Bilstein shocks.
