i noticed that my radiator hose was rubbing on one of the pullies..its starting to get a small mark were its hitting the pully due to the high heat from the pully rotating i guess..i tried to twist the hose so it wouldnt touch but if i twist too much then the hose kinks up front by the radiator..any ideas anyone ??
Which hose? If the upper is rubbing verify that the alternator upper bracket has that little L bracket that the hose lays on. If the lower rubs 1. make sure that the AC belt hasn't flipped upside down (don't laugh it happened to me and wore the lower hose). 2. make sure that the AC belt is adjusted correctly. 3. make sure the AC belt is the correct one (lenghth). 4. make sure your hose is a good brand and in good shape. Hope this helps, I've had the same problem.
its the upper hose and the bracket ur talking about seems to be missing...anyone have a pic of this bracket or will any auto shop have it under hose bracket or alternater bracket ??

Re: radiator hose rubbing.. (razz1980)
Try to adjust both ends of the radiator hose. My 79 went for year with no bracket. Although the first time I changed radiator hoses I did the same thing and wore a hole in the upper radiator hose. A new hose and a little twist on both ends and no more problems. Also try tightening your alt. belt a little if it is loose. They tend to bounce up and down when loose.
I have also seen this done on a car, cut a small section of the old hose and wrap it around the new hose at the point where the hose and belt rub. Hope this helps until you get the bracket.
I wouldnt recommend doing this, especially if the hose is making contact with a moving part.... but my upper hose was in contact with my fan shroud, and I couldnt get it to clear no matter how much I twisted the hose. First I put on a little duct tape just so it wouldnt wear a hole in the hose. Then I got really ambitious, and wrapped a soup can around the hose, secured with aluminum tape. Looks really cool, and functional too! MJ
