Hello, My girlfriend just inherited a 1968 with a hard top... she would like to add a soft top... would this be hard to do? What would I need to convert it? I would think it would only take a soft top..... I am assuming that they bolt on the same place a hard top does? Thank you for any information!
Hello, yes it has a removeable hardtop on it now.... I called corvette america to order a soft top and the guy said that it has to be modified to be able to use a soft top... I thought the soft would go were the hard top is now.

The soft top bolts in differently than the hard top. the conections in the rear and front are the same but the folding top is mounted differently. it bolts inside the car. If you would like to get rid of the hard top let me know.

We would sell the hard top if we get a soft top installed. I just need to know what I need to make it work If the front bolts are the same... then would I need to buy a kit or something? Could I do it myself? I need some direction for sure :P Thank you
Get a hold of "Glassworks" they have complete units, you just have to bolt in with hardware kit, or try Paragon vintage dept., for a used one, if they have one.
Below are the two pages from the '75 Assembly Manual (same for a 68)regarding the soft top. The soft top bolts on behind the door panel trim pieces and folds under the deck lid when not is use. PM me with an email if you want the bigger scans.
Have you looked under the rear deck lid to see if the soft top is still under there?
Yes.. lol.. but no go... I did call www.sullystops.com and talked them... they said if there were holes on the back deck then the car is ready for a soft top So now all I need is a soft top frame or a complete soft top.... Sully's has the whole thing for 2500 but I would like to find one cheaper or in trade for my hard top. Thanks to all of you for your quick responses! Please let me know if you know of a top Thanks
You might want to do some checking and make sure the old top isn't still around somewhere. AFAIK, you couldn't buy a convertible without the soft top.
$2500 is probably the going price for it, unless you can find a used one. Either way the installation is not the easiest job. Uless you've installed tops before, you'll probably need to pay a profesional to do it.

Yeah ... the top is gone... after her father passed she brought the car down from PA and there was no soft top with it. About installing the top... I was thinking it would be easy... a few side bolts ... the pins in the back deck and then done. Is it not that easy? I hope so.. Thanks for the help

Let's just say there's more to it than a couple bolts and pins.
You'll buy the frame and top separately. Install the frame and adjust it to fit the windows. Then install the top and all weatherstripping and seals. Yeah, half hour or so.

Thank you As long as me and a few others can install it... Ill be happy Maybe it will come with instructions
Yes Sir; Buy a used soft top with frame. Do not sell the hardtop that came with the car. They are very hard to replace, & even finding one that is not a pc. of crap is very limited. Yes the soft tops are hard to come by also, be willing to spend the money. Have a great day. Gene
