Default Need a little help

Guys I need some help in a few different areas,,,

1. Center gauge cluster rebuild...done quick a few, but on this one it all just feels weird...someone has been in it before and rigged it up...so I bought all new nuts and printed circuit board, washers and ceramic block spacers...does any one remember the exact way it goes back together or any pics of their cluster out of their car from the back side? I'm just outta luck with no other example here and my books don't illustrate.

2. differences between a 78-82 tilt-tele column and what I need to do to get it in a 71, have someone trying to get it in their car, I rebuilt it, but again my books doesn't have clear enough cross references.

help tonight with the first one would be great!!!

To get the steering column in yo uwill have to trim the housing some. The dash on the 78-82 cars is deeper at the steering column. You need to trim it back. Jim Shea will be able to answer more in depth on this. I was going to do this and had one almost done when I found a 75 column that I rebuilt.

The expert on steering columns is Jim Shea. If you repost with "steering column install question" in the suject, I'm sure he'll jump right in. He might not open this post based on the subject.

This should help you!

This is not the same cluster.. you won't have an oil pressure gauge to wire up on yours.. but aside from that this should be spot on. I also have another picture on teh web site showing the insulating washer... I'll see if I can post you that link.

If you look at the picture that Willcox posted it just basicly botls on. those small retaining nuts bolt to the board and hold it down,Then install the bulbs. I was told to wear gloves as the oils in your fingers are not good for it. Who knows????

You didn't post a year so I assumed 72.. The 1977-1982 cluster is different and yes.. let me dig you a picture out.

if you look close, you'll see how the insulators and resistors should be attached.
