Just out of curiousity, can anyone tell me what is the differance between a master cylinder for manual brakes and one for power brakes? Also, in my 1973 assembly manual, it shows two spacers that go between the booster and the master cylinder. What are they and are they necessary? One last question, I replaced my manual system for a power system and when I push on the brake pedal it goes in about an inch then seems to hit some kind of lip or edge. With a little more pressure I can force it past the resistance, but I know it's not normal and would like to know how to fix it. I'm wondering if the booster is at an incorrect angle and the rod attached to the brake pedal is not completely lined up with the rod that goes from the booster to the master cylinder.
Any help , as always, would be greatly appreciated.

Not only does the manual master attach differently, the manual and power brakes use different push rods which connect to a different location on the brake pedal. See AIM schematics.
Do a search. There is an excellent write up on this. The switch has to be moved to the othere hole on the pedal and you attach your clevis to the othere.Look up at the rod and push your pedal down and make sure your not hanging up on something.I just converted mine a month ago.
Sorry, now you've completely lost me. Do you move the brake light switch? Moved to what other hole on what pedal? If anything it seems to me, the clevis and rod need to be positioned higher on the brake pedal to get the proper angle. You wouldn't be able to send me the link you're referring to on the forum. I searched and really couldn't find any.
I have a AIM and the only picture of a brake pedal I can find is in the brake section and it doesn't address positioning of the clevis rod or striker plate. However, Mr. Wilcox gave me the answer when he told me about the power brake striker plate, so I bought one. He thought I was smart enough to figure it out. Unfortunately I wasn't. Then I PMed CA-Legal and ...Roger... and between Roger explaining it to me and CA-Legal showing me an actual picture [thanks to vetteMOD] of how they were supposed to go, I finally got it. Now I have power brakes!! Many, many thanks all that tried to get through my thick skull!!
