I have an '81 Corvette that, I am currently prepping for a new paint job. While making sure that all of the body panels were aligned, I notice that there appeared to be a few missing hood alignment bumpers. I ordered a new 4 piece set from Corvette Central.
The new ones arrived and look great. The only problem is...I have no idea how to install them. The new ones are rubber bumpers with a metal tab at the base to attach them to the car. There was only one of the old ones left on the car and it appeared to be glued on. There are no holes (that I can find) to attach the new bumpers. Also, I am not really sure where they are supposed to go.
Could someone please instruct me on how to align the hood including how and where to attach these bumpers?
Any info would be greatly appreciated.
WHEN WE DID MY 78 THERE WERE NO METAL BOTTOMS WE USE WEATHER STRIP ADHEVSIVE WHAT WE DID WAS PUT TWO ON EITHER SIDE AND CLOSED HOOD AND CHECK FOR ALINEMENT AND MOVED THEM ACCORDINGLY UP OR DOWN
Mike,
On my wife's 82 they are pop riveted. I believe thats the way the factory did it. You put them anywhere they are needed to keep the hood flush with the fenders.
