Default Carb size for 406?

Guys, I've got a new Holley Street Avenger 670 I picked up about a year ago when I was still planning on just rebuilding the 350. Now I've got a 406 with a Lunati Voodoo 270 hydro roller and ported Sportsman II's.

Is the 670 Holley too small? What should I go with if it is? 750? Vacuum secondaries or mech.?

Also, auto car with 3.73 gears. Thanks!

I tried a smaller one on mine (built 350) and switched to 750 with mechanical secondaries. Double Pumper would be what I would recommend, but you will get many versions of the "right" carb. Just be sure it is jetted correctly. Also, what size converter is important and intake. You have the cam and heads for it. We all guzzle gas differently.

totally agree with marz about everything. people will all have an opinion including....vacum secondaries or mechanical...650 or 750....holley or quad....and the list goes on so get ready for a million different answers.

but im with marz and think a 750 mechanical secondary would be perfect and i recommend a demon.most say on autos use vacum secondaries for better driveability but you have a 406 with a healthy cam, very nice rear gears and most likely a 2500-3000 stall or something similar so i would want that fuel going in on demand . your holley 670 will work though.

so far the score is

750dp - 2
the rest - 0

Another vote for 750 double pumper. Try http://www.holley.com/applications/C...bSelection.asp and see what it says.

I'm using a Weiand Stealth 8016 manifold and a Yank 3000 converter. Thanks to the link for the Holley tool. Looks like I'm right on the line for mechanical secondaries and vacuum. Holley is suggesting a 700-750 double pumper or a 750 vacuum sec carb.

Thanks for the suggestions so far. Keep 'em coming!
