HEI inop Question ??
It's driven not very often so I can't say how long it took to actually show up. The small block in my 72 (with a GM HEI) began to spit as if the timing were off and soon would not start at all.
Long story short....I discovered that the contact on the rotor button had bent upwards and was circling the coil contact like a knife. It carved out a large amount of plastic and the inside of the whole distributor is covered in electrical soot.
I replaced the cap / coil and the rotor .... still no fire.....won't even fire the timing light. I am thinking that the "short" may have ruined the module in the distributor.
Any suggestions.....I think I have a spare that I will install.
