The verdict is in on my 383: WOOOHAAAAH!! 1/4 mile times
Well I Took it to the track for the first time with the new 383.. It was 50 degs and overcast. Heres the results:
1) First run was a bit of a disaster. I tried to use the Gtech at the same time as making my run , Bad for the concentration. No traction on this run and nearly lost it. Had 20 PSI on the Nitto's..
Gtech: 14.19 @103.9 MPH haha
Actual: 13.36 @ 106.42
with a 2.29 60 ft (Arghh) :smash:
2) No more Gtech.. drop the Nittos's down to 15 PSI . Much better traction but still slippin a lot...
12.81 @ 108.082 MPH (Yeeha :) )
1/8 mile 8.276 secs
60ft 1.928 kinda sucks !
3) Final Run, Total spinnin at 1st and then it grabbed hard. Seem faster alll of a sudden.
12.76 @ 108.125 (double Yeehaa!) :yesnod:
1/8 mile 8.225 secs
60 ft. 2.007 sucks !
Well I'm in the 12's first time out.. I think this motor will put me in the low 12s with some traction.,.. It really pulls past 3000 RPM , I even hit Rev limit 6000 once.. I think I need a Line lock at least. I also really need a shift light, I can't look to know when to shift and I can hear with that helmet on...!
any other suggestion to get it to lock up better are welcome...
:) :) :) :) :yesnod: 12s

:cry :cry
I still want to leave the driveway, let alone run a 12.
Damn nice numbers. Witht slicks and a shift light, you'll run 12.3's or so. Anything to keep your concentration on driving and not worring about when to look at the tach is always good.

Nice job! (Right where I had you!). If you run with open exhaust you should be able to hear it, even with your helmet, provided the guy in the next lane isnt too loud!   MJ

Way to go. You pulled great numbers out of pretty slow 60 times. Slicks will get you the good launches you are looking for. I'm impressed.

Clink, you have obviously got that engine roaring....is it run in yet?......the nittos should be giving good traction.....was it perhaps a little cool for them....look forward to seeing the terminal speed up....great work.....john :chevy

:cool :cheer:
I would be extemely happy with those times, nice job. With Traction sounds like low 12 is certainly in that car :cool

Congrats Clink! Sounds like you still have a couple tenths that can be knocked of that 1/4 mile time with some practice. You're a lucky man!
I'm hoping the 468 will get me into the 12s come spring time.

That's really getting there. I really wish I had more cubes. I'm still a little quicker, but it sux not having torque under 3K RPM. I think that you definately have more left in your combo. My 1/8Mi ET is 8.00. So you are really making it on the big end to almost catch up with me.
You'll be like me soon, trying to do every little thing to make it to the 11s! Remember my 12.62 was with 3.36 gears. No times yet for the 4.11s and slicks!!!

VERY NICE! Congrats.
If I ever get some time off, I should be joining the 12 club. How far into the club remains to be seen.

Good luck.
