Default Where did you hide your MSD box?

Looking to see where everyone who is running a CD box hid it in their C3. I am looking to run one in my 69 and prefer it to be stealth.

Mine's in the fender well across from the AC accumulator above my after market aluminum radiator overflow tank.

Mine's not stealth but proudly displayed on my a/c delete cover. If I did stealth it, I would probably go where jimvette999 put his. I also like the idea of the rear storage compartment but that's a lot of wire.

These have a lot of good ideas. I put mine on the passenger side on the back side of the fender well under the A/C box.

P.S. I also painted the box black to mask that bright RED!!

Mine is mounted behind the passenger side of the dash. No one would know it's there and it's away from direct engine bay heat.

Thats a great place, because I don't use it for the jack anyway....how did you extend the wiring....factory plug in extension wire...or splice in your own wire.

On my 72 I pulled the side grille out.. and put it on the back side of the inner fender.

I painted it black, and you can't see it at all but you can access it if needed from the side of the fender. I know you don't have this option but for the 70-72 cars it is a decent place.

On a quick note to everyone.. unless MSD changed their instruction manual, there is nothing in there about jump starting your car or charging your battery!

If you have an MSD box and your car battery is dead, DO NOT put a jumper box or battery charger on the car and then try to start it! There is a huge chance you'll blow a diode in the MSD box and they will not warranty them. You might get away with it a few times but eventually the odds will catch up to you! For me, if I need to charge the battery I remove the cable and charge it. But never try to jump the car...

FYI,

Willcox

I may be wrong but I think MSD says to put this capacitor inline in front of the box and this is supposed cure this issue. The cap is baiscally a filter and feeds the box a steady amount of clean voltage. Still would probably be a good idea to disconnect!!!

Mine is located similar area but attached to underside of heater duct. Same reason to keep away from engine heat.

Spliced my own wire, used larger gauge.
There is a hole with a grommet already, so I ran the wires there, tie wrapped to the existing harness, down along the outside of the drivers seat and through the firewall.

the battery feeds I just put across to the battery.

I should really take some pics

Mine is in the gap between the brake master cylinder and the outer fender so it is shrouded up inside the fender (mounted to the firewall). Terrible location, I inherited it and keep meaning to change it. It looks clean but is almost impossible to access.

I learned the hard way about jumping with the MSD-6AL. Don't do it. It only cost $40 to get it fixed but I lost 3 weeks waiting for MSD to turn it around.
