Hmm...I'm not sure you could probably try Advance Auto. A locking gas cap is definitely a wise investment. I had mine given to me by my best friend, who if I remember correctly, purchased it at (don't laugh) Central Tractor...which is now out of business. It serves the purpose :)

Oh, and I forgot to mention...I've tried all the local shops...they don't carry them, and Stant doesn't make one yet. The only option I've found is to purchase an "original."

Just make sure you get a vented gas cap if that's what came on your '69. I can't remember for sure I think the '69s got a vented cap.

So, like this one: "vented cap has #EE54-3-Z-75 inside"

Can anyone decipher that number?

OK, the problem with 74 and prior is that the original filler caps were large enough for the leaded fuel hoses. The question is...did your vette get retrofitted with the smaller unleaded filler tube? If so then it is probably a screw in type, which means you can use a standard GM screw in cap. If not then it's a tabbed type of cap to fit into the slots, but you can still get them...Schucks, Kragen, Checker has them hanging on the shelves.

It's the original vented GM installed cap on there right now. Big three inch hole. This is the "correct" dealer cap:

I just got one from Mid America a couple of days ago. It works great on my '81! 1-800-500-8388 is their number. Just give them the year, and they'll get one out to you! If they don't have it, I think Corvette Central does. Hope this helps!

I've been looking for a locking gas cap for my 74 ever since I got it. The catalogs show them, but when you order, they're not available.

PARAGON has them, both vented, and for 68 - up.

$75 a shot. Might want to get one. Have seen gas prices lately?
