Hood hinge rivet kit
I see the hood hinge rivet kits, but can't find any info on how the install is done. Do you need a special rivet gun or other tool? How hard is the rebuild? Is it worth the hassle vs. the $23 for a new hinge? Thanks.

Not to me! The issue is the condition of the hinge. If the pivot is worn out, then the new rivet may not take up all the slop. Seems simpler to me just to replace rather than repair.
