Default carb help

I have a 69 with a 350/300. If it sits a while, it won't start. If I give it a shot of starting fluid it cranks right up and is good for a day or so. After that it won't start again without starting fluid. Any ideas on the possible cause and corrective measures.

check to see if the fuel is leaking out of or being siphoned off the carb when it sits. Next time out, before starting or anything, remove the air cleaner and look into the air horn and hit the throttle to see if it squirts gas, it should. If it does not then there is no gas in the bowl or the accelerator pump is bad. Either one will make it hard to start.
The bottom ot the thrttle body leaks on some carbs but can be epoxied. Sometimes the valves in the fuel pump are bad and allow the fuel in the fuel line to run back down thru the pump evacuating the carb bowl.

I've concluded that today's gasoline evaporates quickly in a carb. I run into the same problem on all my carb'd (Q-Jets and Holleys) cars, though, they usually have to sit several days before the fuel bowl dries out here in central TX.

I hate th use starting fluid/spray. Simply pour an ounce or two of gasoline in the carb's fuel bowl through the vent. I have a little bottle for this purpose. Put the air cleaner back on and fire her up.

It's possible that if you're using a q-jet, the fuel bowls are leaking through the Welsh plugs, but I give this a small chance.

My bet is that the choke is acting up. Take a zip tie, tie down the choke open and try starting it that way.

As you can tell, I am no fan of the choke......but I'm in Texas.
