Default ’73 M-20 Muncie wiring question

The transmission has a single(one wire) electrical connector screwed into the side cover below(into) the front shift linkage. What is the function of this switch and what does it tie into?

I believe it was part of the emissions system. There's some info about it in this thread-

but that thread is not worth reading IMO.

The switch is for the TCS system , transmission controlled spark.
It will interrupt the vacuum going to the vac advance can on your dist.
For best overall performance bypass the TCS solenoid and go straight to manifold vacuum, switch on the tranny will just sit there.

Thanks. There is nothing emissions friendly on this 'vette. I think I will just plug it.

Roger,
Thanks for summing it up. I didn't have time when I posted the link to read through that mess again. I think that one poster in particular, who clearly never scored well in the "plays well with others" category, tends to bring out the worst in others.

No problem , if the OP read that whole thread he might have needed 1/2 a case of beer to settle his nerves.

Here's a article from a NCRS mag (about 1/2 way down) on the 71' TCS system which is close to the 73'.

Good point. Sorry I didn't get back to you sooner but I've been drinking heavily all afternoon.
