1969: Voltage drop when headlights are turned on
When I turn on the headlight, the ammeter goes immediatly far left. I am suspecting that something is not grounded correcty. Where some of the places under the hood that I would like to make sure the headlights are grounded property. 1969 corvette with 350 at, ps and AC. Thanks in advance.

Should be a black wire on the harness next to the alternator, headlight grounds in the harness ground to the radiator support. I think the rad support gets grounded to the frame thru mount bolts, not sure.
Does the amp meter go left at idle or all the time? not unusual for idle, but may be a sign of an open diode in the regulator

At idle, the amp meter stays just a little bit to the right of top center (zero). With just parking lights on, amp meter stays jus a little bit to the left of top center (zero). With headlights on, amp meter pegs far left (-40).
