Default Question about the drainage around the fuel cap????

Since I was in my accident back in May of last year it seems like everytime it rains or I wash my car, water pools under my my gas door. It doesn't seem to drain at all and the level typically ends up over the top of my gas cap. I have to take a shammy or towel and soak up the water before I can even remove the gas cap. It's not a big deal, but shouldn't water or fuel that spills in there drain at some point??????....I never had a problem prior to the accident, so I know that it's got to have a way to drain

Should be a drain line from the tray around the cap to the rear of the car - if the car was very original the line will come out in the right side of the verticle bumper - if you got hit from the back maybe the line is pinched - there is a steel spring inside the tubing to prevent this but probabily not in the case of a hard hit.

Warp, small debris also gets trapped into that drain line. My '75 was doing the same thing once and an acorn the size of the opening lodged itself right at the drain entrance creating a "little plug". If you have access to an air compressor, try to blow air down through it too, or as the other poster said, it also could be pinched.
