ok where are the paint guys now? I think, not exactly sure but factory was acrylic enamel. Any recently done good paint job is clear coat over base color coat. Try searching archives on paint or clear coat I think there is a rub test to show if it is clear or not. Mine, even repainted has no clear coat on it.

The easy way to see if you have clearcoat is to get some mild rubbing compound and rub the paint in a hidden place like the bottom of the bumper. If you have clearcoat there will be no color on the rag. If you get color on the rag you don't have clearcoat. As far as what wax to use there are many opinions. I used Meguiars for many years and found it to be very good. Big problem is that it didn't last very long and with a black car waxing became a career. I switched to Zaino last year and will never go back. It shines as good or better than Meguiars, is non-abraisive, and lasts a very long time. Go to the car care section for more on this.
