Default temps higher with T tops off ?????

I have noticed my engines temps are slightly higher with the T tops off and windows down. I consistantly run 185-190 with the tops on and windows up. With the tops off and windows down the temps climb up to 195 to 200. This is running on the interstate at 70 or 75 mph. Seems odd, at first I thought it was just a coinsidence, but has been consistantly the same. Any thoughts? It really doesn't bother me but I was just curious why. thanks Al

Never noticed it, but with the wind buffeting that happens when you have the tops off, there certainly is more rolling resistance. So I guess anything's possible.

It does not bother me as not even close to an overheated problem. Just wondering why. At slow speeds temps are at 185 to 190 always.

with the tops off and the windows down your basiclly driving a parachute or windsock .

The aerodynamics change drasticlly. and the motor has to work harder against the now increased drag. hence the lil 5 degree temp jump.

not like the earlier C3's with the option of the removable rear glass to open up the capartment and let the air flow threw.

try placing your sun visors angled up and out the tops this will allow some of the air to be deflected up and over the top gap and not sucked into the caprament. not gonna make a huge difference but makes driving a lil nicer.

Thanks Elke this was what I was thinking, I like the looks of the car and driving with the top off, but on a long road trip I like the quietness of the tops on. thanks Al

no problem if your like looking at the temp gauge next time a a trip and watch the fuel gauge

i get crap fuel mileage as it is but with the t-tops out and wind a blowing ya that kills my mileage more then temps.

Oh, you crack me up. Heat in a corvette are you kidding? Was that an option, or a must have? I don't even runn coolant through the heater core at all. Much too much thermal heat coming into the cockpit. Good thought though. Al

A Windjammer is remarkably effective in reducing air turbulence in the cabin. Air is deflected up and over the passenger compartment.
