When swapping control valves and finding out my pitman arm hole was enlarged, I changed the pitman arm and now I find this play in the pitman shaft. I dont know if it was there before but it moves up and down about 1/4 inch. What could cause it and could it have been there before I messed with it?
When I push up on it.
So is this what happens when you remove the pitman arm by hitting the puller stud with a hammer to break it loose? What should I do? I haven't looked at the top of the box yet.
You need a new box. I suggest that you look up www.borgeson.com, they have rebuilt standard boxes or a new integral power steering box that will transform the driving sensation of your car.
The Borgeson boxes come with a factory three year warranty.
