Corvette making a clunking noise for a few seconds when driving in reverse also in foward it goes away when driving in a straight line
could be a u joint ... look at them first, check for mettle in the oil. if it clunks around a corner it may just need additive. but if you have any chunks of metal in the rear end and drive it your repair bill is going to go way up
U-joints, Rear Snubber cushion, Rear end clutch pack and possibly a wheel bearing.
If the noise is coming from the rear in the form of a loud clunk 1 time when shifting in to reverse or from reverse to forward this would indicate a rear snubber cushion issue.
If the noise is coming from the rear end when you make turns and the car feels like its waddling then this would be the clutch pack on the rear end.
U-joints tend to not go away and make noise all the time and the same with wheel bearings.
What you might want to do is jack the car up by the trailing arms. This will leave the car under weight load and then put the car in gear and see if you can find the noise. If the car is an automatic you don’t want to forget to push the brake pedal before putting it in park.

ujoint or an outside chance of needing the friction modifier in the pumpkin. when making a tight turn slowly, do you hear it? if so it is one of the rear axle ujoints, straigt ahead it maybe a driveshaft.
