Default Engine ID

First of all I would like to say. At 50 years of age I got my dream car. Pickup a sweet 79 modle from one of the nicest 70 year old motor head on the planet. Thanks Mike i will take good care of her.

This car is all orignal xcept the engine. I am the 3rd owner mike had her for 15 years. The engine currently in the car is a 350 maybe. I checked the engine code number and cant seem to find the info I need. The # is M02169VP. All I have been able to find is, Looks like a create motor made in mexico on 2/16 i can't find the complete suffix number anywhere. I did find a VP in a book at a local Machine shop.
it was a 1969 350 225 hp truck motor and Im guessing a 4 bolt main 2 piece crank seal. but nothing on a 9VP suffix. Any help would be great. I'm sure this is no big HP motor I just want too know what I'm dealing with. And its well you know I just have to know......

thanks Rico

I believe I read a column by JohnZ in Corvette Enthusiast Magazine to the effect the final 9 might be a year indicator for Mexican blocks. CE blacks do not have it.

69 would jive with the suffix code.

Sounds like a fairly recent Targetmaster crate engine. The block should say Hecho en Mexico somewhere.

Thanks this just lets me know Im on the right track. I think it may be a Target Master engine but it wiuld have to be pre 1980 with the dipstick on the driver side. I checked the Pasenger side but can't see anyplace for a dipstick. I know the later models had a spot on both sides for a dipstick. And the 9 as a year code would work. thanks for the help.
