I took mine out this winter and it was nearly a breeze. From the top, there is a nut that you have to remove, a special tool is require to do this. If you don't have it, a punch with a hammer and a lot of caution will do the trick. After that, there is a bolt from underneat to take off and the antena to disconnect. There is a connector from the interior of the car to get or you can cut the wire and solder them afterward. If you want to rebuilt your power antena here a link http://www.corvettemagazine.com/2002...tenna/ant1.asp

I know it's for C4 but the first generation for them is the same as for late C3.

Getting acces to the power Antenna should not be to hard - I did find it a tough squeeze due to the muffler being in the way some what - but its not to bad all. When my Antenna went years ago I replaced the whole unit from GM - I have noticed that the vendors now have a replacement mast which you can buy for under $20. Most Antenna problems is due to the cable mast braking - Ex you turn the radio on and you here the Antenna grinding but the mast is either stuck in the down or up position. I f your Antenna is doing the same thing then just replace the mast . hope this helps

Make sure that it's not a power problem first. I went through the PITA of replacing mine and it wasn't the problem. It seems to me that I got on the bottom nut with a small vice grips.
