I found a set of heads that I can't identify from any source. They have mounting bosses on the ends like the '69 and newer ones. The marking on the ends is odd. Two tall bars on the end where double humps would be. They are about the width of a pencil, square at the top, and an inch or so tall. I was told they came off a 1971. Any ideas?
They look just like the late-model double-hump heads (drawing H on the listed site), except the markings are taller and square at the top. I hope to pull a valve cover later, but the motor is in clean, dry storage and complete. It came out of a 1971 big Chevy truck (C60 maybe?) about two months ago and I bought it from the original owner for the "010" 4-bolt main block and (hopefully) steel crank and rods that only has 67K original miles. It has a two barrel carb, rams horn manifolds, a heavy looking u-shaped saddle for the front motor mount, really deep pan and very long oil filter. The top side of the engine looks very conventional. I will tear it down for a freshening soon, but just looking for information at this point. I want to know more about what I have before I get in too deep. I hope it will make a great bottom end for a semi-restoration 350\350-ish street engine for my '80.
Thanks for all the info!
UPDATE: Pulled a valve cover tonight. 3986388 is the casting number.

OK. Officially a truck motor. 350 by the casting number with the tiny 1.74 valve heads. I got the short block I wanted and the rest of it is junk. I wonder if anyone needs to put a small block in an older truck? I have the parts!
