Temperature sending unit.
My temp. sending unit seems to be very close to the headers on the car now, and im running 20 to 25 dergees hotter according to my gauges. Can it be picking up the heat from the headers and sending a false high reading?

I doubt it, since the sensor part is actually in the head and reading the coolant temperature. It is possible, though, that the coolant temperature in the head near the sensor has increased.
