Default Crossfire conversion

Has anyone converted from misfire FI to a 4-bbl, kept the computer, and lived to tell about it? The conversion looks pretty straight forward w/ the exception of the TPS input and not knowing if a fuel pressure regulator is required or if using the fuel return line makes more sense.

IMHO, You'd be better off converting to a TPI unit from a latter model Corvette, Camaro or Firebird. It will cost you more, but I think it would fit better with your car. But if you want to convert there are several people on the forum who have installed various carb combinations on their crossfires.

I've seen those conversions, but I'd like to keep the 'puter for knock sensing and lockup...and I haven't had much luck finding someone w/ experience at that combo..

i have thought about puting a single tbi on my car .edlbrock makes a aftermarket intake and tbi that will perform better than stock and its alot better than the cross- fire.cross- fire still runs good .

I've seen those; but ifyou want to keep your computer happy, you gotta somehow get TPS back to it...it looks like there are error codes for both high and low TPS inputs. The real things these engines need is compression...but 87 octane was a way of life in 1982 (if you could find it). My x-fire is doing OK, just got a way bad oil leak at the rear of the intake manifold...silicone gasket musta let loose after all of these years...so...while the intake is off, why not replace it w/ a polished holley and some chrome..

You can replace the injection and keep the computer happy - it will still run the ignition.

Check my web page on my TPI conversion. I found a way to run the TPS off the throttle linkage.

You sure did Noel! I'm curious, why did you go w/ a 400 2-bolt over a 383? Nice setup...

Mostly because I wanted the most torque I could get in a small block, and I subscribe to the "no substitute for cubic inches" school of thought. Speed-O-Motive offered some very attractive pricing on their kits.

Did you see the zip file with info on the '82 ECM chip? The link is at the bottom of this page:
